Support

The Finnish Association for Heart Children and Adults offers a wide range of support at various life stages for people with congenital heart defects and for their families and close ones.

Different forms of support provided include the production of information material and organising various types of courses, camps and events. The central activities of the association are passing the information about CHDs and its effects on life in general, as well as to provide the opportunities for people to exchange the experiences with one another about the issues around CHDs.

The Finnish Association for Heart Children and Adults has a nationwide web of regional associations and three nationwide divisions. Regional associations and divisions plan and organise a large variety of activities and events. You are more than welcome to join the action!

In addition, the association has a big and helpful group of volunteers giving peer support. Feel free to contact then – they will listen and support you.

The most recent form of support provided by the association is the discussion forum at the intranet of the association. On the discussion forum you can exchange thoughts and opinions about everything with other people in similar situations.

Rehabilitation and events

Rehabilitation courses, adaptation training courses and camps

The Finnish Association for Heart Children and Adults organises rehabilitation, camps and adaptation training courses for the families of the children with CHD and to the young and adults with CHD.

The aim of the rehabilitation and adaptation training courses is to share the information about CHDs through lectures given by various experts on the fields touching CHDs and to give people strength and tools to tackle the everyday life with CHD.

On the informal camps the emphasis of the activity is more on being and doing together and on learning new skills.

On the courses and camps alike, the peer contacts are often regarded as being of the highest importance.
